Local Letter is a free library of letter and application formats in English and Hindi for students and working professionals in India.
About us: Local Letter builds clear, ready-to-use letter and application formats for everyday needs in India. Students use our formats to write to a principal. Employees use them to request leave or resign. Families use them to write to a bank manager, the police or a government office.
What we publish
- Leave applications for school, college and office, including sick leave, one-day leave and family functions.
- School and college letters such as TC, bonafide and fee concession requests, plus board-exam formats for letter, notice and email writing.
- Job and office letters such as experience, relieving, joining, resignation and NOC letters.
- Bank and official letters to a bank manager, police station, electricity office, DM, SDM or gram panchayat.
- Hindi letters (हिंदी पत्र) for readers who prefer to write in Hindi.
How we write each format
Every page follows the same plan. First, we explain the correct structure. Next, we show a complete sample letter. Then, we add a fill-in form so you can place your own details in the letter. Finally, we answer the questions people ask most often.
We keep the language short and polite. We avoid long, old-fashioned phrases, because schools and offices prefer letters that state the purpose in the first lines. You can read more in our editorial policy.

A note on accuracy
